    Πιστεύω ότι ο όρος public domain (δωρεάν;) δεν είναι κατάλληλος για τα γεωγραφικά δεδομένα. Με public domain εννοούμε αγαθά που δεν έχουν ιδιοκτήτη· αυτός που είχε την πνευματική ιδιοκτησία (copyright) δεν επιθυμεί να έχει πια την ιδιοκτησία. Έτσι, δεν υπάρχει ζήτημα παραβίασης δικαιωμάτων διότι δεν υπάρχει πια ιδιοκτήτης για το αγαθό αυτό, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_domain Αυτό που πιστεύω ότι πρέπει να επιθυμούμε είναι τα πνευματικά δικαιώματα (copyright) να το διατηρήσει το κράτος ή η κάθε δημόσια υπηρεσία, κτλ, και με χρήση μιας άδειας Creative Commons (όπως CC-BY) να δίνονται ελευθερίες στο κοινό για τα δεδομένα. Αυτό έχει ως αποτέλεσμα να είναι εφικτή η μίξη δεδομένων με διάφορες άδειες CC ώστε να παράγονται πιο σύνθετα και χρήσιμα προϊόντα.
