Dear Mr. Varoufakis - Minister of Finance, Greece. In relation to the proposed new legislation, I have to inform you that I consider myself to be in an unique position and should therefore be grateful to receive your comments/guidance: (1) I am a British subject born in 1944 who spent his whole life in the United Kingdom and made my entire career working in finance in London. (2) My wife and I decided to leave the U.K. and live in Greece in 2005 when I was 60. (3) BEFORE COMING TO GREECE in 2005 I already had an offshore company account in Switzerland. The balance of our account in Switzerland IS LESS TODAY THAN IT WAS 10 YEARS AGO, WHEN WE CAME TO GREECE. This can be proved with relevant bank statements. (4) Of course, we have less money now than we had 10 years ago, because over the past 10 years, as we have NO GREEK INCOME TO SUPPORT OUR NEEDS, WE WERE CONSTANTLY REMITTING MONEYS TO GREECE. Repeat: We were remitting money to this country and helping its economy instead OF TAKING IT OUT!!!!! QUESTION: The new law that you are proposing to pass through the Greek Parliament : WILL THIS NEW LAW APPLY TO OUR SITUATION (REMEMBERING THE FACT THAT WE ARE BRITISH SUBJECTS AND BROUGHT MONEY INTO THE COUNTRY INSTEAD OF TAKING IT OUT): In other words, surely the 15% should NOT apply to us as the money that we have abroad NEVER LEFT GREECE IN THE FIRST PLACE AND SECONDLY WAS EARNED BEFORE WE CAME TO THIS COUNTRY. Indeed, we are constantly bringing money into the Country. We sincerely hope that you will take this matter into consideration and look forward to receiving your kind reply to the above. Yours sincerely, John
