Laws to protect all animals is the most important part of this legislation. I am not sure how they will be policed as there is a very large percentage of Greeks who care nothing for animals, have no compassion whatsoever. What is needed it education for children, teaching them how to treat animals with compassion and care. Teaching them that animals are not dirty. Even strays, it is not their fault, if they are looked after and given medications they will not give fleas. We need a caring Greek society. A society like the one that gave us civilisation, but seems to have got lost along the way. Another high priority is the churches. Whilst ever Churches preach that animals have no souls (debatable whether some Greeks have souls), are of no consequence, if they live and die is a matter with god, then nothing will change. The church is still an integral part of Greek life, and the church should take responsibility to ensure animal welfare. After all didn't their god make all living being. What gives humans the right to pick and choose what animals they want to live or die. So education, church overhaul bringing them into this century, and most of all good policing resulting in heavy punishments of fines and prison, and widespread publication of offenders names and addresses. Remember these animal abusers may well move onto children when they get bored of torturing animals.
