I write this note after talking to a long term foreign investor in the greek stock exchange who has also influenced a number of his friends to invest in the greek market significant funds over the years. Despite having heavy losses during 1999-2000 and 2008-2009 ,they had all remained invested in the greek markets hoping for a rebound of the economy through a program of more investment incentives ,less bureaucracy, less corruption and a friendly business environment. Instead of that, they see that the new greek government has primarily in mind more and more taxation of private investors(increase in dividends tax and new capital gains taxes) and in general is not appearing interested to incentivise local or foreign investors for the risks they are taking investing in greek companies. In view of this miserable investment environment in Greece, these private investors have all decided that in the next few weeks they will sell all their positions in the greek stock market and invest instead in the Istanbul stock exchange where there are: 1.Dividend tax of 10%(at source) 2.No tax on capital gains 3.Investor and business friendly government
