Once again, I do not see anything in this article about Research Centers. Research Centers are investments that provide higher wages and can spun a plethora of innovation and cooperation with the Greek Universities. The investment criteria for them have nothing to do with product, product quality, environmental issues related to production, tax incentives based on “income”. The company does not need a business plan or Greek experts of any sort to evaluate the investment. How is one going to evaluate the business plan for a nebulous notion as Research for something that does not exist? A company simply wants to invest in a piece of land some ware in Greece and get permission to construct a Research facility. Yes, the application must include an environmental study and other pertinent documents. Keep in mind that it is NOT a production facility. The ministry of the Economy needs to participate in this because the current tax law does not address the Research Centers. In China and India major US, European, Japanese, etc. companies are investing billions in Research Centers. If these countries are successful in attracting these investments, it will be very simple to find their investment criteria and laws. The question and challenge is: Do we want higher paying jobs or do we want to continue to operate in the messianic mercantile model we have been operating since the WW II?
